I have to thank one of the most recent comments in one of my diaries about underground hip hop. The song AoT posted was so sick it needed a diary named after it. The song is straight up ridiculously powerful and good.
Below the section inspired by the song I will attempt to put together a brief set of actions also inspired by AoT. These actions will not be fully fleshed out because I don't even know who I can work with yet in my area. With further research I'll continue to put that together.
Are we for the little man the revolutionary or are we too punk to get scary
We live here in America where it doesn't get that hairy
but the corps killin the masses and stealin their food
Live right up in our home and have a foul attitude
They runnin the gov, resources and all the above
The ain't flyin no peace symbols not even a dove
The spit the fighting words daily and ain't wear no gloves
Its shocking it hasn't come to blows, fighting or bustin them slugs
So its simply time for the question without further ado
Tell the truth now which side are you
The working poor got nothin but they are the whole population
Unfortunately on top of nothin we get dumped with pollution
Land fills turned into playgrounds
Our men hunted by blood hounds
We so fucking desperate we don't even see crowns
Or those corporate mother fuckers who are raping our towns
So I ask again the question that begs for an answer
Which side are you on, are you a blessing or a cancer
I am simply pushing the truth
These corps are killing our youth
with dirty ass air and genetically modified fruit
And we just feed them with loot
They don't even move to pillage
What the fuck is wrong with us we've lost our whole village
Now who raises the kids
Hopefully not their porno vids
because violence against women destabilizes
And too much telivsions tranqualizes
To them its just big biz
Lets not drink the soda fiz
Its about fucking time we stand up and resist
What side are you on?
Yup that right there was the inspiration. Thank you very much!!!!
Are you with the robbers of water
Or those being deprived
With those promoting the slaughter
Or the victims who have not yet arrived
Are you with the people or the corporations
The question should not need translation
The corps are doing damage with their evil machinations
Look what happened to the water supply privatization
I can't believe this shit goes down without contemplation
It has gotten to the point where public relations
Drowns out the sounds of violent indignation
Where is the morality or at least regulation
What side are you on the people's or the evil's
There is no longer a blur your choice is clear
Its us or the people who mow us down with Desert Eagles
So tell me now which side are you on
Which side are you on
Make it clear please, which side are you on
there is no excuse for robbing a people of their water supply. there is no excuse for colonizing a people's home. there is no excuse for exploiting a people's natural resources not giving them a profit but leaving them with the cost. And it is inexcusable to let such atrocities go unreported to the general public.
the song is great. it touches on a great many issues and led my mind racing to many others. Anyways I hope you enjoyed my poetry.
Brief Action Plan:
Step One: Collect opinion leaders in the community. (clergy, community organizers, Non Profits working in the community, etc)
Step Two: Speak with them as a group if possible finding out what works and what doesn't for helping the city's people. Try to get an idea of what sort of problems we are dealing with, and what types of solutions are already making head way.
Step Three: Introduce the idea of inner city political action, and the idea of educating the poor people of the city.
Step Four: Start talking about collaborative events between the several groups of opinion leaders and organizers to get a larger audience in one place at one time. I think it'll be helpful to have the community as a whole start getting to know each other.
Step 5: Suggestions of out side the box efforts that may augment already somewhat successful methods, and outside the box efforts that stand alone.
Step 6. Put together a strategy using all the resources available to aid the poor and alleviate their situation, educate them, and inspire political power stemming from the inner city.
Please offer any suggestions comments or anything else that comes to mind that's on topic.
