They said it couldn’t it be done, but last night I stood alongside Ken Lewis (the good one) and many of our great supporters in triumph. The nomination for U.S. Senate in North Carolina is secure and it’s because of people like you who fueled our grassroots campaign to the end.
This was your victory as much as it was mine.
Now starts the general election against Wall Street's more reliable U.S. Senator: Richard Burr!
Help us retire Richard Burr with a contribution today.
More -- including some well deserved thanks -- below the fold...
You know, Washington made it clear that we’d have to win without their blessing or support. It was fine by me because I knew I had people like you in my corner and I knew that if we ran the right kind of campaign we’d come out victorious in the end. That's why I want to single out some folks who made this possible:
Pam Spaulding, who held all the candidates accountable on crucial LGBT issues and allowed me to speak directly to her community in a live chat earlier this year.
James Protzman from BlueNC who was often the voice of reason in this primary.
Great groups like DFA, Blue America, PCCC, and MoveOn who joined our grassroots coalition and helped us make over 100,000 calls in the closing days of the campaign.
I also want to thank Cal Cunningham for running a great campaign. I am honored to have his full support and I look forward to him joining me on the campaign trail as we work to unite Democrats.
Help jumpstart our general election campaign by chipping in $5 or more today.
I want to leave you with this thought:
The pundits, they like to talk…
They said we couldn’t beat Richard Petty…but we did!
They said we couldn’t pass lobbying reform…but we did!
They said we couldn’t beat Wall Street…but we did!
They said we couldn’t win this race – and they say we can’t beat Richard Burr – but we won the nomination last night, and we’re going to beat Burr on November 2nd! Join the campaign by chipping in today.
Thank you,
Elaine
