A realtive of mine is in a Hep-C trial that is very promising. She is testing with zero viral load 12 weeks into the program. Vertex’s telaprevir compound, when given in combination with two standard drugs, was able to eradicate any detectable sign of the hepatitis C virus in the blood for 75 percent of patients a full 24 weeks after they completed their course of therapy, Verte.

Drug trials aren't alway going to work to your advantage. In fact some have been deadly.
The decision to be in a trial for drugs or dietary modification may not be an easy one. You have to consider all the options and come to a rational conclusion.
A Personal Story: My Uncle Dave agreed to a clinical trial of a new chemotherapy drug when he was on his death bed, he knew he wasn't going to make it, but thought the information that the researchers learned from him would be valuable. He had fought and won a battle with lymphoma years earlier and wanted to add some purpose to the end of his life. He was being treated for a deadly melanoma, in advanced disease with no hope for recovery, the doctor gave him three days to live. He volunteered to be a guinea pig. I spoke to him, on the phone, before the medication and disease made him too sick to speak. After that phone call all he could do was a thumps up and mouth the words I love you. He finished his third bag of biochemotherapy and an experimental drug when he finally died. Usually you get one four day treatment of biochemotherapy followed by a rest of three weeks but Dave was dying so they ran the bags non-stop (with his permission) until he died. He made it a week and a half. The researchers said they observed some promising tumor reaction to the experimental drug. Perhaps some people are alive today due to my Uncle Dave's brave attempt at helping medical science progress.
