A regulation bill to decrease the carcinogen formaldehyde was signed into law by President obama. This was sponsored by Senator Amy Klouchbar.
Now let's move on to the food industry. Much of the food that is out there is terrible. Examples of such are school lunches, fast food, and processed foods.
Michelle Obama's goal is in a bill to be considered next week in the senate to improve eating habits and produce better nutrition. In addition, the Health care law goes to great lengths to purchase nutrition facts at restaurants and encourage health eating. With improvements to that law, and another law to write regulations of the food industry so good organic stuff gets in the meals as opposed to chemicals and terrible greasy fat, our country can really go a long way.
If we have a substantial majority of democrats in the house and senate (hopefully with progressive senators through republican pick ups) we can really do so much better to ensure the best opportunities for our children to live healthy lives PLUS breathe in a healthier environment.
Is this doable?
