Ok Ms. Sherrod is telling her story and she deserves airtime for that but why do we have to see the idiot who spread the lies about her?
jump...
I keep turning off my tv when I see the liar who put the horrible story out there about Ms. Sherrod because I just do not want to hear his side but they keep booking him. Why?
Are people really keeping their sets on to hear him lie more?
Has the media not learned their lesson?
There is a concentrated effort on the part of the rightwing Conservative media to racialize the coming election so that the Republicans will take over because black people hate white people.
The Sherrod story clearly establishes this fact.
We in the progressive community have been saying this for a long time.
The Obama Admininistration knows this and tried last year to tell folk not to deal with Fox but they were flamed and now we have this.
Yet,even though the Administration knew this, they still fell for it.
Vilsack says he did it on his own without support from White House and people are questioning that. However, I do believe that even if the President did not know at first, his political team like Rham and Axelrod knew and they allowed this to go forward. I think that Obama is surrounded by bad advisors and that they are hurting him and this Presidency.
If Obama follows his heart he will make better decisions. I think his heart and head are in the right place but his limbs (political advisors) are not following or co-operating.
As for the media, they all know that this is clearly being set up by the rightwing to hurt Obama. They knew this for a long time. They knew it when ACORN, Van Jones and Dawn Johnson were forced out yet they continued to take their talking points from FOX. They continued to be led by the balls and the nose by an organization that is obviously out to hurt this President.
President Obama is compromised on many levels. If he tries to helps blacks he is too black; if he tries to help whites he is acting white; if he helps Latinos he is obviously a sell-out; if he helps gays he is bringing this country down. The man is under siege from all sides.
However, I think that he should get out of this siege mentality and do what he knows is right when he has to make these types of calls like that of the Sherrod case. There are comes a time when you have to own the space you live in and the skin you are wrapped in. Sometimes there are no grays there is only black or white (pardon the pun). This is one of these times.
The NAACP came out and said they were wrong now it is time for all media outlets who ran this story to apologize to this lady as well.
Mr. President you know what to do. Do it.
And media, please stop giving liars airtime. We in this country deserve better.
Oh, by the way Mr. President, please do not give FOX Helen Thomas' seat.
