It’s time to take action, and I did. I encourage you to take action, too.
Yesterday, the Democrats took the “middleclass tax cuts” off the table until after the election. So, I contributed to Sharron Angle’s campaign. And, I intend to contribute to her campaign every week from now until the election in November, unless this tax cut bill comes back on the table and gets a vote.
It’s apparent that the leadership in Congress needs someone to shake them up. We can do that. All we have to do is contribute to Harry Reid’s opponent.
Sometimes you have to do things that are difficult and unpopular for the good of the country.
I hold Sen. Majority Leader Harry Reid responsible for not getting this bill to a vote before the election. This is a failure of leadership. It really comes down to this: either we put up with this kind of tail-between-the-legs, scared-of-any-Republican-shadow cowardice or we knock out Harry Reid and get a new leader.
Given the closeness of the polls, taking out Reid is feasible. All we have to do is contribute a very modest amount to his challenger (and take away any funding for his campaign). A little push and over he goes.
You may object, “Hey! He’s our guy!”
Prove it.
At what point is his total lack of gumption good for the Democratic Party or the country? We’ve got a popular position that we can hammer the Republicans with all the way to November 2. Why on earth would we not do that? Is it that Reid and other incumbents don’t like their jobs and want to be voted out? I can help them.
“But, but, but. You’ll turn into a Republican!”
Why not?
If you can’t tell the difference between Democratic politicians and Republican ones, is that such a bad outcome?
Look, Pols. If you’re going to be afraid, then you’d better be afraid of me. I’m not going to put up with endless stupidity and cowardice. You go fight for Democratic values or you’ll be out on your ear!
Update:
I withdraw my suggestion that you follow my lead and contribute to Angle. However, this is exactly the problem we have. No one is willing to stand up to these people. When the Democrats in Congress utterly fail on popular and progressive legislation, we should not give them a pass. I encourage you to think about what you can do in your own way to hold them accountable.
