UPDATE: I thought I should point out this blatant lie on the part of Joan McCarter:
This suspect, reported to be about 21, was able to carry a concealed weapon to this event BECAUSE of that law, and shoot a Congresswoman point blank in the head.
This is a lie, and she knows it, and I DEMAND that it be retracted.
I have had it.
Please tell me how stricter Arizona gun laws would have stopped a criminal from carrying out the crimes of today.
As usual, when gun issues arise, mcjoan offers a strawman.
A criminal with intent to murder is not enabled by CCW laws.
They will do so regardless of what laws are in place.
Gun laws disarm the law abiding.
And no one else.
mcjoan, you need to stop this kind of shit.
It makes our party, and this blog, look bad.
I have said this consistently, and I will say it again:
People who would exploit tragedy to advance a political agenda are lower than a pile of whale shit at the bottom of the ocean.
And that is exactly what Joan McCarter has done in her front page diary.
I would be willing to listen to any cogent explanation of how Arizona's gun laws had ANYthing to do with what happened today.
In my view, that diary should immediately be deleted, and Joan McCarter should be reprimanded.
This is unacceptable. It makes Daily Kos look bad, and it makes the Democratic Party look bad.
Gabriele Giffords may die.
Shame on Joan McCarter for exploiting this tragedy to advance her personal views against the right to self defense.
A comment from her thread:
Concealed carry permit laws have no effect on a suicidal murderer bent on mass killing. The implication here is that if Jan Brewer had not signed this law, somehow this tragedy might have been averted. That is a non-sequitor and McCarter needs to be called out on this shameless exploitation.
And so I shall.
SHAME on you, mcjoan.
Have you no sense of decency?
update: I have a policy of not doing this, but I'll make an exception this time. I am absolutely thunderstruck that this reclisted. Thanks. Love you guys.
