Glenn Beck - consummate asshole:
July 14, 2010
Rough transcript by me:
BECK: [in extreme mocking, fake-crying voice] Well, Boss Nancy Pelosi, she's so scared of the violent rhetoric..by the tea party!
PELOSI [in video]: I saw this myself, in the late 70's in San Francisco....
BECK: [mocking, fake crying, laying it on thick] open your eyes a little more, somebody blow on my eyes...
PELOSI: this kind of rhetoric was very frightening and it created a climate in which violence took place...
BECK: [fake sobs]
BECK: yeah in the San Francisco...in the 70's.... hey wait a minute that was Jim Jones... yes she has heard that type of rhetoric... FROM COMMUNIST REVOLUTIONARIES!!!
WTF does Beck even mean by that last statement??? Doesn't even bother to try to make any sort of rational segue. Just starts screeching Communist to try to deflect attention away from the violent tea party and toward a Communist smear of Pelosi.
Beck is of course using the Alinsky tactic of ridiculing your enemy (plus Beck is an unrepentant misogynist):
"Ridicule is man's most potent weapon. It is almost impossible to counteract ridicule. Also it infuriates the opposition, which then reacts to your advantage."
As with almost everything else, Beck lies and claims the left is using Alinsky tactics when he himself is a master of using Alinsky tactics.
(I've never seen Beck mock Boehner's crying, and Lord knows there's been plenty of that.)
Beck tries to bizarrely link Pelosi to violent Communists and yells while doing so. He makes angry physical gestures. Beck is visibly angry. He is shouting.
Why is he visibly angry if he does not want his listeners to be angry? Why would he want them to be angry instead of informed? Why would he want to make it falsely appear that Pelosi is an evil, dangerous Communist attacking the tea party? What does he think will be the logical result of this?
This is very consistent with Glenn Beck's usual tactics, which are frighteningly reminiscent of "Who will rid me of this meddlesome priest?"
