So I've been complaining about the new site layout, pretty much constantly the past few months. The bigger font, the extra white space, all the extra design widgets that add up to a much more spaced out (vertically) site, requiring a lot more scrolling to real the front page. Someone else commented that the new site must look especially bad on the smaller screen of an iPad, to which Kos replied that he loves the way the site looks on a iPad.
Well, by coincidence, I just happened to get an iPad two days ago--I won a drawing on NYE for a free one and they just finally sent it to me. And guess what--Kos is right, the new design does look awesome on an iPad...if you are holding it in portrait mode! I also had said that the new design feels a lot like an old-fashioned newspaper, and viewing in portrait mode it really does look like a very nice newspaper. So, the timely arrival of my iPad will probably lead to me reading the site more than I had expected--only not at my desk.
So if you were like me, and really upset about all the extra space in the new site, just go buy an iPad! If you can't afford an iPad, just turn your monitor sideways :)

Update: wow, there's a lot of kinks being worked out of the publishing system still, I guess. I kept getting an error message when I tried to preview and publish this, but then it just showed up in my published diaries list. It might show up more than once, at this point, but I'll delete the duplicates immediately, I promise :)
