In Boston, more than two centuries ago, a few pissed off colonists broke the law. They boarded a ship. They took the tea on board, and they dumped it in the harbor in one of the most well-told stories of civil disobedience in this nation’s history. This week, another quiet, yet epic moment of civil disobedience took place in New York City. Some young hackers dropped some very pro-American free speech on the very pro-corporatocracy ticker of Fox News in Times Square.
They did not frag Fox. Rather, they stood up and told anyone who happened to be passing by, and a few hundred thousand people on YouTube, to realize that they are being lied to, and to wake up.
Of course Fox News denies the hack. That’s good. Then perhaps they’ve seen the light, and will fire Ailes and stop running the fiction on their air and try to pass it off for news.
When the power that tries to warp the minds of millions into the bidding of Rupert Murdoch, Roger Ailes, and the radical Right, isn’t it nice to see that we have a few modern indians of our own who took their own great risk to make a statement for a free society not controlled by the corporations.
Right on!
My shiny two.
