On Endeavour's last flight into space ever, NASA was able to get something never before accomplished: photos taken from a departing Soyuz capsule of the International Space Station with the shuttle Endeavour docked to it. There is a set of ISS photos here, with the shuttle pictures starting at page index 40.
They are incredible - you can see just how big the ISS is, and appreciate what the shuttle program has made possible over 30 years. It's bitttersweet too, because there is only one more shuttle flight left - and nothing to replace it. Given how dysfunctional our government and our society has become, I can't help but wonder if this is going to be America's high water mark.
Enjoy the stark beauty. It's still incredible to think humans could get their act together long enough to do this.
