I clearly state that I am not a Progressive, but a Democrat. I am proud to be called a liberal and I will shout down any Republican who tries to make me feel embarrassed for being a liberal. I am not going to call myself a Progressive because it sound more sexy. Progressive have made being a Democrat a bad thing. If I identify myself as a Democrat, then I need to hold my head in same. What is next, changing the name of the Democratic Party to the Progressive Party.
I think a Progressive was a Democrat who didn’t have the guts to stand up and fight as a liberal, when the Republicans made it their main mission to make been a liberal a dirty word, they changed their names to Progressives instead of fighting. Now these same Progressive are trying to take over the Democratic Party, if we don’t bow to their agenda and kiss their butts, then they will take their toys and go home. What makes you any different from the Republicans and the Tea Party? These are the same people who complained for 8 years about how President Bush left Democrats out of negotiations, never compromised and bowed to the Republican Party. Now that a Democrat is in the White House, they want to do the same thing. What a bunch of hypocrites. Many of you don’t care if on August 2rd, the stock market falls and thousands of people are out of work. You don’t care if this nation is no longer a world power. All you care about is winning against the Republicans. This nation comes second, but winning against the Republicans come first. You didn’t care last December that 1,000,000 people wouldn’t have had money to buy presents and feed their families over the holidays if unemployment insurance wasn’t extended. All you cared about was sticking to the Republicans. If kids had no presents and no food, so be it, as long as you got one on the Republicans. All anyone cares about in this country is getting theirs. We have a President who has the courage to put this nation ahead of the Progressive Movement and his Party that pisses you off royally doesn’t it. Many of you are thinking at this moment; “Who does this man think he is, I donated to his campaign and voted for him, so he is bought and paid for. How dare he even talk to Republicans, without my permission? He should only be concerned with what we want and to hell with anyone else. Who does he think he is, the President of the United States.”
It is my belief that Republicans have played Progressives like a fiddle. They knew that loyalty is a fleeting thing on the left, so they enlisted the aid of DINOs (a lot of disgruntled Clinton supporters) and those Progressives who never wanted a Black man with a funny sounding name in their White House to do their dirty work, especially one that beat His and Her Highness, Bill and Hillary Clinton. I’m calling it as I see it. Now they are listening the Bernie Sanders who has never been part of the Democratic Party. Do you honest think that Bernie Sanders would be any different? Bernie Sanders can say anything because he is not the President. So Bernie Sanders would rather let this country default on its obligations, possibly costing 1000’s of jobs, rather that compromising. I guess I will not be voting for Bernie Sanders.
So Progressives, continue on your path to destruction. Continue to stay home on Election Day. I’m sure President Romney/Bachman/Pawlenty who listen to you and support your agenda. You cost the Democratic Party the House and almost cost us the Senate last November. I blame a lot of you for the crisis that we are in now. We wouldn't even be discussing this if there was even a small amount of loyalty in you. Real Democrats went to the polls and voted last November. We didn’t sit home like spoiled children who had their toys taken away, because we see the bigger picture and are not ruled by talk shows host and websites. We are loyal to the party and not to a movement. I can honestly see that many of you have never been in a position where you have to make compromises. For those of you who supervise people and run companies, how would your employees react if you had that it’s my way or the highway attitude?
I will work to get President Obama reelected and will continue to donate to his campaign, and if he doesn’t get elected, so be it. But maybe I will start being a little more selective when it comes to whether I will pull the lever for a Progressive or not. Having a “D” behind their name doesn’t necessary make them a Democrat. So don’t come talk to me about party unity when you need my vote to get your hand-picked Progressive candidate elected, just like I am not going to beg you to vote for President Obama. As you so eloquently put it in 2008, Party Unity My Ass.
