I wonder if our debt ceiling will be raised on time.
Although I don't want to see our fragile economy to go on life support, I'm curious just what will happen if the ceiling isn't raised.
Will I not receive my Social Security check next month? Will my Medicare be useless? Will any stocks and/or bonds I own be worthless? Will any money I have in the bank evaporate?
No one knows, I think, just what will happen? Are we sure anything much will happen?
If I were a magician, I would just like to reform our economy from scratch again.
Our economic system is getting to be an old guy. It can't expand and retract quite so readily anymore. Good nourishment doesn't nourish the economic body as we know it. It seems like we're dumping Ensure down an old person's throat and catching it down below as it goes straight through the system, not helping any organ or body part on the way through. All we end up with is a polluted mess.
Our economic system is dying, and the more we give it life support, the longer we prolong the agony for all of us. We may not be able to keep stimulating it, creating jobs just to create jobs.
I don't know what my solution is. However, if I were to start cutting, the first place I would go would be to our country's war-making machine and the machine that uses those means of violence. What we need to do is have a strong Coast Guard, strong air patrol and a strong National Guard to protect the safety and security INSIDE our country.
We don't need forces in about every country around the globe to protect this country. We do not need to be occupiers except to preserve safety for our corporations in other countries. That's why we're occupying many countries. Major corporations needed our protection for their interests, not to help the people there. How involved in other countries are we when those countries have no resources we need?
So my curiosity continues to imagine. It wonders just what is going to happen to our sick economy that doesn't know how to get well. And I don't think any of our leaders are doctors enough to help it become self-sustaining.
Maybe we just need to start carving a grave stone for it and let it rest in peace. Then let's see what bubbles up to take its place.
Just my two cents worth from a simple people power granny!
