We have a way here on Daily Kos of having someone finding a way to make something positive out of what could be called a negative. The latest of those came yesterday when our very own Ono took the announcement of Meteor Blades departure which was being mourned into a positive. Her suggestion was to support MB's favorite charity NARF with a donation, it was a big hit.
Mole333 had another suggestion. His was to support Trees, Water, People.
In mole333's words;
I don't know what the most appropriate honor I can offer to Meteor Blades. But I think one he will appreciate is a donation to Trees, Water, People. This organization, among other very cool projects, works to provide solar heating systems to residents of South Dakota's Pine Ridge Reservation by Native-owned and operated Lakota Solar Enterprises. I can't think of a better tribute than one that combines helping people with helping the environment in such a grassroots way. So Meteor Blades, where ever you are (Los Angeles, Libya, The Village, Gallifrey...), this solar heater is for you. (And yes...I did make it in honor of Meteor Blades on their form):
MB in his parting words also recognized the goodness in this community;
Daily Kos also provides a place to support each other's individual struggles of a non-political nature: dealing with job loss, with disability, with grief and even with our own mortality.
It offers a place to raise money for causes like the famine-struck Horn of Africa or the earthquake victims of Haiti. It allows a means to keep tabs on on-going world events — Fukushima, Katrina, the Gulf Oil spill, the Middle East political awakening, climate change, the criminal justice system. A place to present big ideas to shape our future.
Often, the place can just be fun.
It's hard to improve the words of a master wordsmith. If you haven't read any of the linked diaries, you should. For me let me offer this;
To Meteor Blades, Markos and everyone here who gets involved trying to make a difference, whether its with your time or your money.

Mojo Friday Guidelines
1) If you comment you have to recommend all comments. (in order to receive mojo you have to give mojo. It's only good mojo manners.)
2) Everything you say may be taken as a joke (so if you ask a question, expect a silly answer)
3) You must recommend the diary (and pimp it unapologetically)
4) You don't have to comment to recommend.
5) You can't steal my idea (right, like that ain't goin' to happen)
6) Please, no pictures or YouTubes until after 300 comments. Now, after 300, use a little common courtesy and be responsible in the number.
7) Mojo mojo mojo mojo, mojo mojo mojo.
8) TexDem (that's me) is not bound by the guidelines. Heh
Mojo Friday Goals

B. 100 recommends for each comment, at least.
C. Stay on Recommend List at least five hours (this requires some strategic planning by you guys, refer to guideline #3)
D. At least 200 diary recommends. 300 would be better, spread the word.
E. And always, fun fun fun.
F. Have at least 75% average participation rate as seen here in the Mojo Friday Postgame Show by Woodtick.
G. (New) Have at least 30 kossacks over 90% participation (see here for some tips).
H. Overload the servers with recommends, not to mention dominate Top Comments Mojo list. (we do tend to mess with the site with all of our recommends at one time)(also, to dominate the Top Comments Top Mojo we need at least 50 comments with over 200 recommends, see guideline B)
I. That's enough for now. (Have a suggestion? Post it.)
