Ah, Texas, one of the few places that can be the envy and disgrace of the world at the same time. It's part of our make up. One day we elected the first openly lesbian mayor of a major city, the next day our state government is arguing to keep their anti-gay laws on the books.
It's this type of paradoxical civics that is a Texas tradition. Speaking of grand Texas political traditions, we recently started a new one that is right up there with the time some knuckleheads out of East Texas decided we should teach our kids the Earth is 6,000 years old.
It is both harmful and disgraceful.
It is time for Texas to Lone Star the heck up and quit dumping our worst governors off on the Lesser 49 and putting them in the White House.
I know, I know, it is very tempting to find the stupidest guy in Texas and make him President, just to see if we could do it. We can, and we did. Just because you can do something, doesn't mean you should do it.
That's what makes one respectable, and having Rick Perry trotted out as a viable candidate for President of these United States is a disgrace to the Lone Star. We all know deep down inside what we are trying to do, get rid of him the way we did W.
Yes, Rick Perry is the stupidest guy in Texas at the moment. Yes, Rick Perry is the worst governor we have ever had, making George W. Bush look like a Jim Hogg. Yes, we all hate the guy and want him the hell out of Texas. I mean, even Karl Rove thinks this guy is an idiot. And let's face facts folks, Karl Rove knows his idiots.
This does not make it right for us to pass off Rick Perry to the rest of country. Not even for Vice President, it just ain't right and we need to end this ugly tradition now. We had a chance to get rid of him last November, but blew it. Now we have to own this boss hog wanna-be.
Plus, Perry is liable to burn the White House down, especially if the secretary of state is sleeping over.
