I don't think that depriving kos of ad revenue for a week will make him flinch or think twice. I really don't.
I do think, however, that anything that makes the community moderation process less transparent and less reliant upon TU's for hiding comments can't be good. Letting more people with less invested in this community "refer" comments to a great and mighty Oz, behind a curtain, who can ban by fiat, will make it easier to hide the reasons for a purge, and put banning in the hands of even fewer, rather than the hands of the many who have proven that they can be trusted with that function.
kos was pretty flip that he was wielding the "ban hammer" freely, "because he can". I didn't dig his attitude in that respect. You wouldn't punish a child without explaining why. "Because I can" was never enough for me.
I ain't a joiner but, for the reasons expressed above, and because I feel that the request deserves to be honored, for my own reasons, I feel compelled to honor a boycott, unless my IGTNT duties call first. That, I can't miss, even for a boycott.
