You know those well paid jobs with benefits? No it wasn't a myth I assure you, when Americans had enough money left to actually enjoy themselves after the weekly grind.
Well you know it is true when advertisers such as Procter & Gamble and Heinz cannot even be bothered targeting the middle class.
For the first time in 38 years, for example, the company launched a new dish soap in the U.S. at a bargain price.
Then at the other end
Luxury retailer Saks Inc. is bolstering its high-end apparel and accessories because its wealthiest customers—not those drawn to entry-level items—are driving the chain's growth.
So the economic disparity is plain for all to see:-
Skyrocketing health care costs.
Exorbitant housing costs.
Stagnant wages.
Ridiculing of the Unions and the benefits they fought for.
The middle class has nothing left to spend so group them with the poor.
The rich however are basking in the sun so it is well worth targeting them with even more prestigious baubles.
So much for higher wages driving higher spending even if the products themselves increase in price due to labor costs now it is a race to secure the bottom or have enough glitter to attract the top.
Pretty much a summary of just how far we have left the American Dream behind, now we have the American Grind.
"This has been the most humbling aspect of our jobs," says Ms. Jackson. "The numbers of Middle America have been shrinking because people have been getting hurt so badly economically that they've been falling into lower income."
Perhaps we need some new politicians with new ideas to right the ship? Ha.
Wiping out the middle class is like ripping the heart out of America.
