Dear Mr Speaker.
You know if you are going to limit abortion to forceful rape only then you have to determine some guidelines. Then if you define guidelines to what constitutes force; will you then turn around and redefine what is equivalent to rape based on said new barometer of violence?
Would sticking a gun against my head constitute force or merely coercion if I then 'allowed' myself to be raped? The following this logic would I have in fact been raped at all?
To prove rape and therefore qualify for an abortion what level of blood and bruises have to be shown? Would the battery have to be complete; or would a broken arm suffice? Please let me know the level of violence I must be subjected to before it becomes worthy of rape.
Would the level of force used to commit unwanted sexual intercourse be based on the number of days in intensive care; and would this also determine whether the aggressor had in fact raped at all?
Would the level of force required be proportional to the shortness of the skirt I am wearing at the time, would bonus bruises be discounted because I was perversely asking for it. Would access to abortion be determined by the color of the handbag I was carrying at the time of my crime?
What is the acceptable use of force by an unwanted sexual partner before it is determined to be rape?
Dear John, you know when you start determining what constitutes forced rape for something you disagree with, you actually start determining if in fact there was a crime at all by the same methodology. The fact that your party are willing to go down this road opens up many questions as to your intent.
Define the force necessary for an abortion to be legal.
Then by the same logic
You define the force necessary for rape to be committed.
Thank you for putting my life and others at risk.
Update:
An observation in the comments
Is the woman supposed to wait until a (1+ / 0-)
conviction before she gets her abortion? After all, she might be lying...
Utterly despicable.
