Contrary to the pundits and even the great Jon Stewart, I knew all along that Sarah Palin was not going to be running for president. The reason wasn't because she has no chance to win; candidates that have to chance of winning run for president all the time. The real reason Sarah Palin won't run is because she would quickly be outed as a fraud by her fellow Tea Partiers.
Here's why:
In page 270 of "Going Rogue" Palin also attacked fellow Republicans for voting against the bailout:
[T]he House of Representatives rejected a Bush-backed economic bailout plan in a vote in which two-thirds of Republicans voted no. The impression this made on the electorate was not helpful to our cause. Millions of Americans were poised to go bankrupt or lose their savings, and the perception was that Republicans had failed to respond.
Currently in the Republican party, there is an unwritten rule that says you don't criticize Sarah Palin. If Palin were to run, that rule would be lifted. Her opponents would show that she supported the bailouts in 2008, while making a career out of rallying against them for the last two years.
Palin has already lost credibility to independents and moderates due to hypocrisy. Her credibility within the Tea Party will be lost because even she, the Queen of the Tea Party, is not ideologically pure enough. By not running for president, Sarah Palin ensures that she can stay relevant in American politics.
