OK, this is strange. MoveOn.org has put up this widely circulated comment by one of America's most famous historic Jew haters, Henry Ford.
http://front.moveon.org/...
It is well enough that people of the nation do not understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a revolution before tomorrow morning.
If you're like me you've probably seen this on Facebook in the last few weeks. It seems to be a generic complaint about bankers, but only if you don't know who Henry Ford was and what he meant when he said "bankers."
Look, here's the deal. Henry Ford was an inspiration to Adolf Hitler. He purchased the Dearborn Independent in order to promote his conspiracy theories about Jewish control of banking and industry.
You can learn about his paranoid antisemitism here and elsewhere: http://en.wikipedia.org/...
"International financiers are behind all war. They are what is called the international Jew: German Jews, French Jews, English Jews, American Jews. I believe that in all those countries except our own the Jewish financier is supreme . . . here the Jew is a threat". Ford also believed Jews, in their role as financiers, did not contribute anything of value to society.[1]
....
One of the articles, "Jewish Power and America's Money Famine", asserted that the power exercised by Jews over the nation's supply of money was insidious by helping deprive farmers and others outside the banking coterie of money when they needed it most. The article asked the question: "Where is the American gold supply? ... It may be in the United States but it does not belong to the United States" and it drew the conclusion that Jews controlled the gold supply and, hence, American money.[4]
Another of the articles, "Jewish Idea Molded Federal Reserve System" was a reflection of Ford's suspicion of the Federal Reserve System and its proponent, Paul Warburg. Ford believed the Federal Reserve system was secretive and insidious.[5]
What is the origin of the actual quote used in the MoveOn graphic? I have been unable to source it. Maybe he said it and maybe he didn't, but there can be no doubt about what he meant when he said things like that. And this is what he meant
The international financiers are behind all war. They are what is called the International Jew -- German Jews, French Jews, English Jews, American Jews. I believe that in all these countries except our own the Jewish financier is supreme... Here, the Jew is a threat. 1920, Ford to a New York World reporter
So it is simply outrageous, obscene and stupid, for MoveOn.org to post this quote in the context of OWS without framing it as an example of antisemitic propaganda.
It is outrageous to do so because the union busting and antisemitic Ford was not advancing an anti-bank cause nearly as much as he was advancing an antisemitic cause. It is obscene because Henry Ford was literally the American inspiration for Hitler's genocide against the Jews.
Finally, it is stupid to republish this graphic of Ford uttering his antisemitic comments because OWS is already being smeared as antisemitic, and here is MoveOn.org opening itself up to charges (justified) from the right that it is repeating antisemitic canards and doesn't have the judgement or good sense to cast out hate speech from its midst, or at the very least to speak against such speech when it occurs.
Please let MoveOn.org know that it needs to understand a little bit about history before it mindlessly echos the words of history's great haters. Ask them to take down the quote, and or explain to their readers what it means, and to apologize.
