The Vice President proves once again that putting political tactics over the good of the nation really irks him to the core. That is a quality I like and that is where the President and Vice President can own the field of battle during this election season. I love Joe Biden. He speaks the unvarnished truth in spite of himself sometimes. This week he has been on fire in his attacks against the do-nothing Senate and Republican obstructionism. Fire cops = crime rates go up. What could be simpler?
First of all, what Joe says is true. That has been covered in another diary. Even if Politifact waters it down a little, the facts are plainly on Joe's side this week. This is a solid truth that reveals the lie of the Republican strategy of cutting the deficit. Deficit control is not always in the country's best interest, especially during times of economic distress. VP Joe's hot arguments against the Senate Republicans have been the sharpest way I've heard to make that point. It is an argument that will convince the average Joe that the Republicans do not have their best interests at heart.
Finally, when the Good Ole Joe hits the nail on the head like this we need to echo the arguments to everyone that will listen. These kinds of clear facts will be the best medicine against Republican lies. The Fox Spin Machine and Mournin' Joe have already been trying to turn the VP's argument against the unions. ("High crime is the fault of the stubborn unions!") I don't think the independent voter will buy that argument this time.
The kind of sharp political fire the Vice President has demonstrated this week brings bright rhetorical light to what has been, prior to the Occupy Wall Street movement, a very black hole in Washington. Keep up the good work Joe! Pay attention Members of Congress! Take note Mr. President!
