Have you found any? I have! They're called Shepherd's Flock and they make wonderful sheepskin slippers. I've had a pair or two from these people over the years; as we all know it goes with slippers, they need to be replaced every so often.
So imagine my delight when I visited their website to find them not only making fun of Ugg, but taking pot shots at the likes of the Koch brothers, FOX News, etc.
In short, Shepherd's Flock stands with Occupy Wall Street! Check this out:
We know you may find it hard to believe but we are serious fiscal conservatives. That is what it takes to strike out on one's own with no money or venture capital folks behind the "concept". Forget the banks, they only want to loan money to people who don't need a loan. You all know the story especially those who are desperately attempting to refinance their mortgage. Some 33 years later we are still here (and we own our house) but we remember where we came from so to speak. From nothing to "middle class" with a little help from the Government, yes, cough/choke, the Government, a lot of real hard work, and pinching the pennies until the copper liquefied. (In the old days pennies were made from copper, honest.)
...There was one other key ingredient that led to our survival and our success. The "Middle Class". All those kind Middle America type people who decided that they would spend some of their hard earned money with us and give us a chance to compete with companies like "Eddie Bean's End". Like, wake up people, even the biggest corporations need the middle class to survive. Seems you are killing the goose here. Remember your fairy tales?
We have been nervously watching the Koch brothers and their political cronies in the mid west, DC, and elsewhere as they attempt to turn back the clock to the days before the middle class evolved. Back in "the good old days" everyone was pretty much poor or wicked rich. There was not too much middle ground and that, of course, was just fine with the robber barons, the mining establishment, and a fair number of politicians as well. Politicians were there to, well, get to the top and stay in power. Hmmmm....
How cool is that? I'm still laughing.
More importantly, I'm wondering what other businesses are sympathetic to the cause? Have we found many examples? I think it would be fantastic to know we are spending our money with people who share our values. It would be especially fantastic if the local businesses we all know have been making contributions in some way or another got some love and thanks.
So, what is going on with Occupy in your city? Are there any local businesses that deserve patronage for supporting the camps? Do you personally know of any businesses, local or not, that are on the side of the 99%? It's getting to be Christmas shopping season, you know...
