As I was driving home from work this afternoon and listening to KTPK AM1090, I heard of this latest Republicon effort at voter suppression in advance of next year's elections. Inactive voters; in other words, those who didn't cast ballots in 2010, would not be mailed ballots but would instead have to go to the county clerk's office or polling place to get their ballots by the directive of Colorado Secretary of State Scott Gessler. Any voters so affected would be out of luck. Including men and women in the armed forces.

As John Tomasic of the online Washington Independent wrote:
Gessler’s directive seems likely to effectively disenfranchise the soldiers.
Fucking ironic that the Republicons, who swagger and bray about how they support the troops, would stoop so low as to deny the franchise to the men and women who would fight and die to defend it. I guess I should expect this from the same chickenhawk malingering classes that allow a gay soldier to be booed during their media circus of a debate.
This is total bullshit. Bad enough that these fascistic bastards try to suppress and steal the vote; it's the only way they can win office. But to deny voting to soldiers away from home?
De - fucking - spicable.
Quick note - I can't stick around at the moment as it's my turn to cook tonight and afterwards walk the dogs. I will be checking in here this evening, but may or may not be able to dialogue as much as I'd like to.
