I'll be doing two inter-related things November 2. First, I'll be participating in Occupy Oakland's STRIKE against the 1% that have stolen what belongs to the 99% of us. Second, I'll have the following sign on my back.
Unless you are living on the beautiful & distant moon, you know why anyone here who can should participate in the STRIKE November 2. That is, if you're against the theft of property by the 1% against the 99%.
Why I personally will be carrying the 1851 & 1868 Fort Laramie treaties around on my back may not be so obvious. Unlike my son, I carry no indigenous blood of the Americas in my veins. I've got some on my hands though. Rather, more accurately, some of my direct ancestors do. However, that's a tale for a different day which i promise to tell. What is more important is that you hear, if you are able, the following voices. If you are able hear just one, I believe you'll understand why I will carry Fort Laramie (and all it represents) with me November 2.
The first diary contains this quote from Deborah White Plume calling on occupiers to recall that-
"...their Constitution, Article 6, includes Treaties are the Supreme Law and start to press their American Government and American People to honor the Ft Laramie Treaty with our Lakota Nation, Cheyenne Nation and other Nations that signed it.

While in the process of occupying what has been stolen from the 99%, we should not forget from whom the land was originally stolen, & with which survivors we've yet to meaningfully assist in surviving. They are the bottom of the 99%. They are the most in need of owed assistance from both the 1% & the 99%.
