Watch her brand new campaign video.
This is a real campaign. Yesterday, we were surprised to learn that presumed candidate Mike Oliverio was dropping out of the race. Why? We think it is at least partly because of the strong challenge being mounted by Sue Thorn.
But why is Sue's campaign still "under the radar"?
Check below the squiggle...
Kossak blogger David Nir has this to say:
1:00 PM PT: WV-01: Mike Oliverio, who announced in September that he'd seek a rematch against freshman GOPer David McKinley, is unexpectedly dropping out of the race. The super-conservative Democrat knocked off veteran Rep. Alan Mollohan in the primary last year before narrowly losing to McKinley in the fall. Activist Sue Thorn is the only remaining Democrat in the race, but given the preponderance of Democratic elected officials in West Virginia, I'd be surprised if someone else doesn't get in.(emphasis added)
Well, Sue is a Democrat. A real Democrat. The party is a big tent. The DINO block might prefer someone else, but there is no one positioned to step in. Sue has the jump on anyone who might try. The party will close ranks behind Sue because she is a good politician and does not burn bridges.
So I don't understand why David Nir thinks "someone else" needs to get in.
As Andy Cockburn suggested, and also Sue Thorn herself, the reason Sue is in the race is because she (and we) tried and tried to find a viable "real" Democrat to run against Oliverio and McKinley. We finally settled on Sue.
Time to put the Sue Thorn campaign on the national map.
