I’m going to ask a favor of the DailyKos community to show some KosLove to a community often ignored by society -- the children of the incarcerated. If you do I’m going to throw some hill-hop your way. (a blend of bluegrass and hip-hop music - it will sound amazing at your next holiday party)
A group of amazing media activists and prison reforms folks are pushing on the FCC to pass a petition that would regulated the cost of prison phone calls. I’ve written before about the corporate gouging that happens to prisoner families by greedy telecom, but now we are in a position to get the petition passed, and we need more voices.
Send a message to Chairman Genachowski to value families over corporate profits and end unfair and abusive phone costs that are bad for the pocketbooks of our most vulnerable citizens -- children of the incarcerated and their guardians, who are often grandma and grandpa.
Follow this linkto take action and after you do, you will be prompted to a page that has free hill-hop tracks perfect for a holiday party.
Hundreds of thousands of children each year are impacted by the lack of regulation on the prison phone industry and we can get the FCC to make a change for the better.
