OK, so I'm paranoid! But don’t you miss KO’s coverage during these past weeks of coordinated union busting when it was needed most? To me, the loss of Olbermann at 8 PM cannot be made up (of course it can’t, Keith!) by the remaining hosts in their current time slots. Moving passionate Ed Schultz to the caboose slot at 10 PM diminished his effectiveness, IMO, and was a second blow to the liberal line up.
It’s just enough to keep MSNBC in the liberal column while something major, like coordinated union busting, can be accomplished!
I searched the diaries and some of the web to see if someone else brought this up, so pardon me if I’m repeating the topic.
I can’t accept the supposed reasons for Keith’s departure: minor political donations and supposed vitriol in the ‘Worst Persons’ segment. Any disagreement with management was not enough to justify the business loss.
I can accept that NBC Universal , whether owned by GE or Comcast, would be anti-union at its heart. I use to be confused as to why GE, maker of weapon systems, provided the liberal MSNBC “health care for everyone” platform until I realized that there were major bucks to be made by its imaging and medical info systems divisions. It’s a big business and would naturally be anti-union!
