Happy Monday, y'all! If you were around yesterday you might have seen a few old users who haven't been around lately. JeffLieber is back! If that won't put a smile on your face, nothing will. I was so glad to see Jeff blogging here again that I rolled the dice and asked Haole in Hawaii if he'd come back. Sure enough, he posted this beauty last night. Lord, I've missed his photo diaries. And our buddy commonmass rounded out the day with a little old-fashioned GOS fun.
Unfortunately, all that happiness doesn't mean there's nothing to be cranky about. Some problems are still occurring for everyone, while others are reserved for a lucky few ... like Nurse Kelley.
For example, the main search engine still doesn't work at all for me, and I can't add new users to groups. Two of the three permalink buttons in every diary fail to give the entire url, at least for me. And adding links continues to be a major pain in the ass. I'll be a lot happier when those four functions are functional.
My wish list includes a few other items:
An auto-tag function for every diary that's Rescued or on the Recommended List.
The number of comments in a diary shown at the end of the comments.
Remove the comment threads from Most Recommended Diary shown in everyone's profile, or make seeing them optional. I've wanted to read a few older diaries I've found that way, but there's not a chance in hell I'm going to open something with hundreds of comments.
What's on your wish lists, Cranky Users?
WHERE TO TURN: LINKS
☀ For more stuff sort of like this, the Cranky Users group.
☀ For lots of official detail about the site and its workings, the DK4 FAQ (frequently-asked questions). The main Daily Kos FAQ is still here.
☀ To report something not working to the dev team, the bug report form. A bug report will not be directly responded to, but will be kept on file by the development team until the issue is resolved or otherwise closed.
☀ To get immediate response for technical help or urgent site problems, the contact form (be sure to select the tech support radio button). A tech support request will get prompt response, but does not get added to the bug report database. If you use it to report a known bug, you'll be told it's a known bug, and that's it.
☀ For immediate catharsis, complain in a Cranky Users thread. These threads are regularly scanned by kos and developers, but it's not a guaranteed way to bring an issue to the attention of these folks. But sometimes you just need some sympathy from other cranky people! (And sometimes, other cranky people have advice that can help you.)
Our thanks to kos, the development team, and the Dkosopedia contributors for their vigorous efforts to deliver a site that works well and to help us know how to work it!

UPDATE: If bugs have been reported as fixed and you're still seeing them, Tech Services asks that you clear your cache.
