Although this has been diaried several times, the diaries have relied on pictures taken from the Guardian or the BBC. I thought I would put up some of my photos taken from within the demonstration. I tried to give people a flavor of a demonstration that has an estimated participation of 400,000+ people. It was a demonstration made up of people from all over the UK from places as far away as Aberdeen, Scotland to Cornwall. From children to senior citizens, by unionised labour to migrant labour, civil rights and human rights groups, those fighting to protect public housing, our libraries, our state sector, our NHS, our social services, our jobs and our childrens' futures, political positions ranged from the centre-left to the hard left.
In response the Tories and Lib Dems offered more lies, more justifications for an ideological attack on the state sector and social services, the working class to the poor and pretended to ask for alternatives ... every person there offered alternatives ... they are just deemed as irrelevant to the Con-Dem coalition that has no electoral mandate to destroy the state sector, the social welfare state and attack the poorest and most defenseless of our country ... we will not take this lying down!
