Hey kids! Time for a Sunday afternoon LGBT and friends open thread! Care to join us?
I recently watched 'A Single Man' starring Colin Firth and directed by Tom Ford. I don't think I was prepared for how intense this film would be. I had to circle back and watch it again this weekend after letting it sink in a bit.

TRAILER
* SPOILER ALERT! *
I talk a bit about what happens without giving too much away so... scroll down to comments and skip the fold.
What I was most struck by was what a different time it was in the sixties for a gay man. I mean I knew what it was like back then but the scene where George (Colin Firth's character) is told over the phone that his lover has died in a car accident and it would be best if George did not attend the funeral or try to contact the family. Wow... you forget how far we have come and yet how far we have to go.
Even with marriage equality in six states it's hard to think in this day and age that someone you have built your life with can be ripped away and you don't even have the right to say your goodbyes. UGH.
Anywhos... not to bring this open thread down too much (too late, I know)... stylistically you can tell Tom Ford directed this and what a great out of the gate effort. I love the feel of that period in LA. The Spanish hustler and George's student didn't hurt my eyes either, just sayin. It was a great film and well worth the time if you haven't seen it yet. Make sure you are in the right mood though!
So... what else is happening?
