Judging by their recent actions, I'd say Scott Walker and his GOP allies in Wisconsin are getting somewhat testy. One need only look at this strikingly petty and juvenile letter yesterday from Walker's little buddy, State Sen. Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald to Dem Senate leader Mark Miller to get the understanding that all the demonstrations and bad polls and setbacks are starting to get to the WI GOP. (I mean, seriously, read Fitzgerald's letter. It's like something an angry person would write to vent his feelings and then crumple up and pitch before writing something else. And yet he actually sent it.)
Yet it's not just Fitzgerald acting like a cranky infant. Walker himself seems to be getting madder and madder with each passing day (crashing poll numbers and the increasing likelyhood of a recall will do that). And because of this, this admittedly not-too-bright governor (college dropout, remember?) is trying a very strange new line of attack. Witness his press conference yesterday afternoon:
And in his attacks on Miller, Walker suggested - with no apparent irony, that perhaps (Mark) Miller has been having secret phone calls with special interest backers in organized labor.
Yes, really. The man who fell for the fake David Koch phone call is actually accusing someone of talking to "special interest backers."
There are no words for this. Orwell's head would explode at the irony.
And yet Walker kept it up. Last night, he did it again. Pay close attention to the quote in bold:
As the Milwaukee Journal Sentinal reports, Walker made the latest remarks Monday evening in an interview with state conservative talk radio host Charlie Sykes. "I don't have this on firsthand knowledge," said Walker. "My guess is he got a phone call from one of the union bosses in D.C. who said, 'You cannot go back there and let them have a vote.
No, Walker has no knowledge or confirmation of any such calls between Sen. Miller and any "D.C. union bosses." He just guesses it. He knows it in his gut, I guess. (See, I can make guesses too!)
Unfortunately for Governor Walker, we do have public knowledge of the call made to what he thought was his "special interest backer." And since the Dairyland Dimwit was kind enough to spill his guts and then some to his fake phone buddy, we know all we need to know about him, including (a) his ideas for tricking the Dem legislators into coming back, (b) his delusions of being the next Ronald Reagan and (c) his ideas for planting troublemakers amongst the protesters. No wonder the Dem legislators feel they can't trust him.
I understand that Walker's pissed off about being duped so thoroughly and has fantasies about turning the tables on his foes. But wishing for something isn't going to make it true, Governor. And this new line of attack and your increasingly childish behavior isn't going to help you any bit.
