Yesterday Senator Gillibrand of New York took to the Senate floor to denounce the House Republicans' assault on women. She reserved a special line in her address for Senator Kyl...
Here's a few excerpts (sorry, can't find a transcript):
"These women ((Senators)) have drawn a line in the sand, a line we will not let you cross..."
"You will not balance the budget on the backs of women. Period."
"An entire agenda around an assault on women..."
"This is a factual statement. Current law already prevents federal money from paying for abortions. This has been the law of the land for over thirty years."
"The price for keeping the government open is this assault on women's rights."
"The Republican House is talking about how to continue this rhetoric and assault and negative effect on women and their families."
"The votes that we're going to have tomorrow, to defund Planned Parenthood, to repeal health care -- American women, make no mistake about it, this is an attack on you."
Senator Kirsten Gillibrand is fast becoming the face of opposition to Republican insanity. As well as her staunch defense here of women's rights, she has taken the lead on issues of LGBT equality and immigration reforms.
She isn't afraid to attack Republicans or their 'ideas', unlike most of our so-called Democratic champions in Congress. She isn't afraid to point out the Republicans' relentless attacks on everyone who isn't well off. When Republicans accuse Democrats of 'class warfare' she isn't afraid to come right back at them.
Dare I say she will make a great President come 2017?
Update: Senator Boxer is having some fun at Kyl's expense as well:
