Kos wrote about the American Taliban, and I agreed with virtually every word he wrote. But it's even scarier than I thought.
The right-wing are expert fear mongerers about "Muslim infiltration" into government, which is apparently to "implement sharia law" and change "our" way of life. But they don't seem to fear the same thing from Christianity. They should. I'm certainly scared.
The NY Times has an article today about Christian Reconstructionism. I found this story really frightening.
These “Reconstructionists” are believers in Christian Reconstructionism, the philosophy of R. J. Rushdoony, who died in 2001. According to Reconstructionism, a Christian theocracy under Old Testament law is the best form of government, and a radically libertarian one. Biblical law, they believe, presupposes total government decentralization, with the family and church providing order. Until that day comes, Reconstructionists believe the rights to home-school and to worship freely at least provide the barest conditions of liberty.
Of course these folks are "patriots" who just want to return America to its "roots" right? Because they are certainly supported by practically the entire right wing.
