I like to think this is a game-changer. Warren Buffett, the man with an unparalleled ability to understand numbers uses them masterfully here. Read this and come away with facts to use the next time you hear someone say that reducing taxes creates jobs.
Stop Coddling the Super-Rich
Buffett starts with this which is good but we've heard him say this before.
Our leaders aked for "shared sacrifice". But when they did the asking, they spared me."
Then he soon gets serious.
Last year my federal tax bill - the income tax I paid, as well as payroll taxes paid by me and on my behalf - was $6,938,744. That sounds like a lot of money. But what I paid was only 17.4 percent of my taxable income - and that's actully a lower percentage paid than by any of the other 20 people in our office. Their tax burdens ranged from 33 percent to 41 percent and averaged 36 percent.
You've got to read this and spread it and its message to every corner of your sphere of influence. This is a message that even tea bartiers will lsten to. Well, maybe that's wishful thinking but I like to imagine there are some sane members among that group.
I know this is short but there's not much I can add to the op-ed. Take the time to go read it.
