Do you want to prove it's possible for a large protest movement, backed up by a hard-fighting Democratic Party, to shift public opinion and win an election on the idea that we should stop taking from working people and giving to the rich?
If so, your time to do so is running out, because the Wisconsin recall elections are on Tuesday. Please, contribute $1 to all of the Democratic recall candidates in Wisconsin.
You want to prove that large, vibrant protests can change public opinion? At least 85,000 people protested in Madison to start this whole thing. Given Wisconsin's population, that would be the equivalent of at least 4.6 million people protesting nationwide. The protesters occupied the state capitol building for over three weeks, too.
You want to prove that Democrats can win if they fight back? Well, the 14 Democratic senators in Wisconsin left the state in order to prevent a vote on a bill. This meant evading police. If even one of them had been caught, this whole effort would have fizzled out months ago. One of the senators was pregnant at the time, too.
You want a populist economic message? How about "stop taking money, education and health care from working people in order to pay off the rich?"
Do you want to prove that it doesn't just feel good to hold these large protests, to cheer these fighting Democrats and to spread this populist message? Do you want to see an effort like this result in electoral victories in districts that Democrats couldn't even win in the landslide of 2008?
Well, here's your chance. They don't come along like this too often, but if we win this one, they will start to happen more frequently.
Please, contribute $1 to all of the Democratic recall candidates in Wisconsin.
