Not sure if it hasd been reported in the US but today Henry Winkler received a honourable O.B.E from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth for his stirling work with dyslexic children.
Having dyslexia myself l always like to read up on stories where people do what they can to do a lot more than was done for me back in the early 1980's when school teachers just thought l was distracted or lazy (with very poor spelling).
Winkler, who is often called the Nicest Man in Hollywood, also has dyslexia and has been doing great work here in the UK for the last two years:
Having been diagnosed with dyslexia as an adult, Winkler has toured schools in the UK over the last two years to talk about the learning difficulty.
He has also written 17 books for children about Hank Zipzer - a boy with dyslexia - whose experiences are based on the actor's own childhood struggles.
Now on top of all of this he can be called "an Honorary Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire" which isn't too bad for someone who's shark jumping escapade is used to describe when something has outstayed their welcome and popularity.
Usually this type ofd award goes to some foreign politician or businessman who has pumped lots of money into the coffers of the current government. The only other recepient l can remember getting such a favourable response for an award like this was Bob Geldof for his work with Live Aid.
The British ambassador to the US, Nigel Sheinwald said:
"Through [Winkler], thousands of young people have seen a role model and an inspiration for overcoming their learning challenges."
And the man himself was very humble in his response via the Embassy website:
"Receiving this honour is a very humbling experience.
"My goal when I started working with children was never to bring accolades on myself, but instead to change how people think about those around them for whom learning is a struggle.
"I am flattered to have had my work recognised in this manner, and hope to continue showing kids that their learning difficulty isn't a disability."
There are not a lot of positive stories out there at the moment so l thought l would post this one just to brighten up the day a bit.
