My son is a junior at Penn State in the Materials Science and Engineering program. Being blessed with fabulous public schools, he scored a 5 out of 5 on all three of his AP exams while in high school (Physics, Chem, Calc BC). He entered Penn State with 16 credits and now has the opportunity to participate in their International Internship in Materials Science. The best part is I don't have to pay for it, the program covers everything and he gets paid!
Here is my dilemma...he applied to Switzerland, England, and Tokyo. I am scared to death of the thought that he will go to Tokyo. Can anyone point me to some data on the radioactivity situation there? The only recent thing I found was a NY Times article on rice. I tried to tell him that radioactivity is cumulative (he should know this) but I think he's writing me off as being overly protective. TIA
