Tonight MBNYC and sidnora have put together a State of the Union Watch Party so I can meet up with the NYC Kossacks. If only there were words to tell you how excited I am about this... oh wait there are (eg)
Where to even begin? It's a little over 5 years now since I started lurking, then commenting, then showering Kos with Pootie birthday parties and the last two of those has been well insane.
When I discovered the great orange satan I was working on a congressional campaign in PA and running a restaurant (oh and bartending part time too) and I was a little in awe of a community like this where people all over the country actually thought like me. Living in the heart of Bush Country PA that was a really big deal to me. Who'd have been able to predict that 5 years later I'd be coming to NY on business from DC to do things like sucker errr recruit people like MBNYC to do evil things with me? I mean seriously-me? NO way I'd have said.
Happy to report, I'd have been wrong. Now I get to do fun things like show progressive candidates, legislators, unions and non profits how to use social media to advance their causes. I get to work at ProgressiveCongress.org helping out on amazing projects and getting to meet and work with awe inspiring people.
And I get to come to New York and go to a State of the Union party with New York Kossacks.... how much better could life be?
Oh and there will be other special guests who are the real rock stars of the world and I'm honored they're gonna be there...who? You'll have to show up to find out :)
Forum has kindly offered their space to casperr for a State of the Union watch party, and we're invited!
It's a huge space with plenty of comfortable seating, state-of-the-art audio and video system, and reasonably priced bar and dinner menus. Huge flat-screen TVs that usually show sporting events will be showing the SOTU for an audience of Democratic activists from around the city.
