The latest target of Tea Party ire would be funny, except for one thing -- their latest local townhall-protests seem to be working ...
Tea Party says green projects are a United Nations plot
Tea Party activists protest efforts to reduce pollution. Newt Gingrich supports their concerns.
by Amy Silverstein, globalpost.com -- Feb 4, 2012
Cities agencies say that green projects like bike lanes could cut pollution. But Tea Party activists say bike lanes are more sinister than they look. Across the United States, members of the politically-conservative Tea Party movement are protesting energy conservation projects, reported the New York Times. Protesters claim that government efforts to "go green" are actually part of a United Nations plot.
Some of the protests are working. [...]
Yep, "conserving energy" that's one sure fire way to keep us 'under the thumb' of those long-planning UN thugs.
OMG. {shakes head, in disbelief, once again} Et tu, Newt. Et tu?
These intrepid New York Times reporters, get to the crux of this world-wide American-crimping conspiracy ... it seems there's "a nonbinding 1992 United Nations resolution called Agenda 21" that is fueling the latest Tea Party outrage to rail against MORE Big Guvmint encroachment ...
Activists Fight Green Projects, Seeing U.N. Plot
by Leslie Kaufman and Kate Zernike, NYTimes -- Feb 3, 2012

Across the country, activists with ties to the Tea Party are railing against all sorts of local and state efforts to control sprawl and conserve energy. They brand government action for things like expanding public transportation routes and preserving open space as part of a United Nations-led conspiracy to deny property rights and herd citizens toward cities.

In Maine, the Tea Party-backed Republican governor canceled a project to ease congestion along the Route 1 corridor after protesters complained it was part of the United Nations plot. Similar opposition helped doom a high-speed train line in Florida. And more than a dozen cities, towns and counties, under new pressure, have cut off financing for a program that offers expertise on how to measure and cut carbon emissions.

Fox News has also helped spread the message. In June, after President Obama signed an executive order creating a White House Rural Council to “enhance federal engagement with rural communities,” Fox programs linked the order to Agenda 21. A Fox commentator, Eric Bolling, said the council sounded
“eerily similar to a U.N. plan called Agenda 21, where a centralized planning agency would be responsible for oversight into all areas of our lives. A one world order.”
We can always count on Fox News to keep their Tea Party reporting 'Fair and Unbalanced'.
What are the saner, wiser stewards of the planet to do?
Well, stay informed. Speak out against the madness, slated to stop progress in your neighborhood, if past is prologue.

But some local officials argue that the programs that protesters see as part of the conspiracy are entirely created by local governments with the express intent of saving money -- the central goal of the Tea Party movement.
Planning groups, several of which said they had never heard of Agenda 21 until protesters burst in, are counterorganizing.
Agenda 21. What you don't know could hurt you.

Is the Soros-Sponsored ‘Agenda 21’ a Hidden Plan for World Government?
(Yes, Only it Is Not Hidden)
by Mike Opelka, theBlaze.com -- June 14, 2011
Agenda 21 is a two-decade old, grand plan for global ’Sustainable Development,’ brought to you from the United Nations. George H.W. Bush (and 177 other world leaders) agreed to it back in 1992, and in 1995, Bill Clinton signed Executive Order #12858, creating a Presidential Council on ‘Sustainable Development.’

At risk from Agenda 21:
* Private Property ownership
* Single-Family homes
* Private car ownership and individual travel choices
* Privately owned farms
The Agenda 21 plan openly targets private property. [...]
And it all started with that Bike Lane, and that High-speed Rail line encroaching on your freedoms {wouldn't you rather keep your SUV ?} somewhere in a town or village, near you.
In a place that used to be call "America -- Home of the Free."
Give me a freaking break!
Hey Tea Party Patriots, How did to get to the Local Planning meeting to lodge your protest?
Did you walk? or Did you use our interstate highway system?
How are those "socialist expressways" working out for you, anyways?

"Be afraid. Be very afraid." ... Once again.
Maroons. What they are talking about is Land Development Planning. You know LOCAL Zoning Ordinances. The regular business of LOCAL Governments, for eons.
Yep the UN has infiltrated with their "Green Agenda" -- even to the point of making Government work for everyone!
Oh the Humanity! ... it may never be the same, again.
Stop the encroaching of all those UN Bicycles!
