Well, looks like Mitt Romney's bringing out the big guns to try and save his increasingly perilous position in his "home state" of Michigan. (While on that topic, how many "home states" does the Mittster have? The guy even flip-flops on his roots.) According to the Detroit Free Press, he's got the endorsement of the state's numero uno Republican.
Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder will endorse Mitt Romney for president, the Free Press has confirmed.
The endorsement will be announced Thursday at a lunch even in Farmington Hills, according to Sara Wurfel, Snyder's spokesman.
Not a real suprise. Snyder's a CEO-type like Mitt and for all his stumbles Mitt is still the choice of the establishment. But whether it means a damn is another question. As the DFP notes:
Two new polls out today show Rick Santorum with a sizable lead in Michigan's Republican primary.
Those polls, both from local outfits, show leads of 11% and 9% respectively for the Dog Humper. And as
TPM is so kind to point out, having the endorsement of Gov. Nikki Haley in South Carolina didn't save Mitt from suffering a Newt Gingrich-sized beatdown.
All I can say is, if Snyder's hoping to become Mitt's running mate, he better hope he has better luck than John Engler did in 2000. Here's a hint; don't use the phrase "firewall."
