There were a 1,000 people at Romney's event at Ford Field. Sorry, but that's a shitload of people. It's not Obama-esque numbers, but what the hell do you expect? He ain't the president. So what if Obama had bigger numbers in 2008? Walter Mondale was packing them in the last days of 1984, for all the good it did him. If you were a Michigander and had a hard-on for Romney, you would have already seen him already. Probably you would have seen him many times. Why on earth would you see him again? As a favor to the Romney campaign, perhaps. That the Romney team was able to get 1,000 people for a candidate who has been to Michigan many times over the last several weeks, is no small accomplishment.
But make no mistake, the advance team fucked up. The previous location, a hotel, I believe, was too small. Ok, then find a slightly bigger hotel. Duh. Not rocket science.
But it's ridiciulous for all of us to make this into some sort of meta-statement about the state of Romney's campaign. He's almost certainly going to win Michigan. The Ford Field debacle is a footnote of a footnote of a footnote. Hyping it like this site is doing makes us look like a bunch of two-bit losers. Yeah, it's fun, but we're making it out like he just lost ten primaries.
If Romney loses Michigan, then we'll have a reason to be gleeful. Anything else, and we look like a bunch of sixth-grade girls yukking it up because the fat girl tripped in recess.
