I'll never forget the first time we saw our Maui. He was in a cage with three other baby cockatiels, so young that none of them had their adult plumage yet. But he popped right out when he saw us, and he threatened away his cage-mates when they finally took interest. We were HIS from the start, and we liked it that way.

He didn't know everything at first. He had to learn from our female cockatiel (sadly passed on) what human food was. But eventually he got us pretty well-trained.
Sadly, recently he got injured, but yesterday he got the bandage off his right wing! He spent a lot of time preening it afterward, as he'd been molting and a lot of new feathers were coming in and itching him.

And clearly his wing isn't 100% back to normal, he still has some balance issues, but the long and short of it is that we don't have to worry. Our beloved bird won't be leaving us for the Rainbow Bridge any time soon, and soon he'll be back to mischief like this:
