"Out, Out, Damn Spot!" Yes, Rush is trying to scrub away the evidence of his guilt. The Atlantic Wire reports that the on-air transcripts from February 29 and March 1 in which he called Sandra Fluke a "slut" and demanded a sex tape as a thank you to taxpayers for subsidizing her birth control have disappeared. Only white space remains.
This man is such a pile of chicken manure that he rivals the output of the Perdue factory in Delmarva. But it doesn't matter - scrub all he wants he cannot erase the stain.
"The site still has the March 1 transcript "The Dumb Don't Know They're Dumb," in which Limbaugh plays a clip of CNN, which itself plays Limbaugh's "prostitute" line (a clip inside a clip, essentially). So the "slut" slur still appears on the site in some form. Limbaugh's now infamous words:"
What does it say about the college coed Susan Fluke who goes before a congressional committee and essentially says that she must be paid to have sex, what does that make her? It makes her a slut, right? It makes her a prostitute. She wants to be paid to have sex
There are certainly smart lawyers that have captured all transcripts of those three days. Hell, all they have to do is watch the
Daily Show and
The Colbert Report on-line to catch some of the most offensive material. I'm sure that we will be reading all the transcripts in complete detail at the trial for defamation of character that Sandra Fluke should certainly bring.
After all, there are only a few categories of speech that are the absolute legal definitions of slander. One of them is the impugning of a woman's virtue. Ms. Fluke, a private citizen, has Rush dead to rights.
Another sort of statement that constitutes slander? Stating that someone has a "loathsome disease," by which is meant a venereal one. It is therefore safe for us to say that Limbaugh does have a loathsome disease - but it infects his brain. How else to explain the vile purulence that spews from it daily?
UPDATE - Someone else has recognized that Rush's words constituted legal slander - Gloria Allred. A news brief over at TPMstates that Allred has sent a letter to Denise Nieman, the County Prosecutor in West Palm Beach, Florida, on behalf of the Women’s Equal Rights Legal Defense and Education Fund,
"asking for an investigation into whether Rush Limbaugh violated Florida defamation law when he called Sandra Fluke a "slut" and a "prostitute." Allred cites Section 836.04 of Florida Statute, which says that "whoever speaks of and concerning any woman, married or unmarried, falsely and maliciously imputing to her a want of chastity, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor of the first degree."
Limbaugh is the most hated man in media today, with a favorable rating of only 9%. Let the Blimp go down in flames; perhaps he can take Hannity, Ingraham, Savage and Levine with him.
