Very short diary here. The writers of Daily Kos are, in my humble opinion, outstanding. I wanted to express my appreciation for their great writing and reporting. Thank you so very much for your hard work ! I really appreciate it ! Somebody was kind enough to purchase a subscription to Daily Kos for me ! At this time, due to my severe poverty, I am unable to afford it on my on or I would have purchased a subscription myself. I would encourage readers who are in a position to do purchase a subscription to do so. Daily Kos brings us so much : great writing, a consistent progressive perspective, it is reality based, great research, breaking news, tremendous analysis, and great election / polling analysis.
I want to thank Kos for starting this site, for all of the improvements in it, and for funding the polling ! And he keeps improving it ! Thank you Markos !
Meteor Blades - Thank you so much for your passion, your integrity, your dispassionate analysis that insists upon truth (even when our party's political leaders might lead us astray - like Keystone) ! Thank you for honest analysis of our economy ! Thank you for being you !
Joan McCarter, Kaili Joy Gray, Laura Clawson, Jed Lewison Denise Oliver Velez - Each of you, in my humble opinion, is a great researcher, a tremendous communicator, passionate, honest, hard working, creative, talented, and provides a great service to this community and to the world through your writing. Thank you ! You all bring us a great progressive perspective on so many issues - Labor, Equality, Fighting against the Republican Party's attempts to return women and our society to the 1400s, ... Thank you very much !!!
David Waldman - Your knowledge and explanation of confusing rules and procedures has been extremely helpful ! You make the impenetrable darkness of the rules of Congress actually comprehensible ! Thank you very much !
Hunter - You are an incredibly gifted communicator with great insights who never fails to make me life ! You think things out (what logically seem to imply) in a very rare way ! I deeply appreciate you ! Thank you !
DemfromCT- I love your analysis of the headlines and stories each morning ! It is a great way to start the day . You save me the pain of reading some of the hardline republicans whom I abhor. Moreover, your insights into polling are very helpful ! Thank you so much, Dr. !
Steve Singiser and David Nir - I count on you both and the whole team of Daily Kos Elections ! Due to my passion for our team, Team Blue, I am extremely interested in polling and election results!!! This is such an important feature for me ! Thank you both and thank you to the entire team of Daily Kos elections !
I wanted to express my appreciation for the writer Scott Wooledge. I very much appreciate your great advocacy and work on behalf of equality and the LGBT together ! You're awesome !
There are so many other people on staff at Daily Kos that make it work ! Thank you to everybody on staff at Daily Kos ! Your work makes the world a better place !
There are so many great community members that are must reads for me -
Bob Swern - Thank you for bringing us the cold, hard truth even when it is not much fun. If we do not recognize the extent of our economic problems, we will not understand what must be done to make things right ! Thank you very, very much !
TomP - One of my absolute favorite writers here ! Thank you very much for fighting for Labor, for Minorities, for Equality, for Women, in fact for all of us ! Thank you !
FishOutofWater - Thank you so much for your incredible science and climate change diaries ! They are riveting ! Thank you !
I believe that the community members are the ones who really ultimate make this place what it is ! Thank you, one and all ! I wanted to also make clear that I strongly feel that this place would not be what it is if we did not have people here who are unafraid to state where they feel that President Obama and our party are on the wrong path ! I feel that President Obama has been an outstanding President and has done a great job, even though he has made mistakes. Nevertheless, I recognize the very valuable service that those who are more critical of the President provide. We need you guys to keep our party honest ! While we have different points of emphasis, I value you all ! Thank you very much !
12:37 PM PT: Joan McCarter's last diary was what led to this diary.

Here is a list of the amazing backgrounds of the Daily Kos staff !

1:04 PM PT: From Clem Yeobright :
I love all the DK writers, especially McJoan and Angry Mouse, but I realized today that I have visited the site with much greater regularity since Jed Lewison started posting.
I don't even know where Jed came from! I know the others from when they were posting under pseudonyms, but Jed just showed up ... and I didn't even think much of him in the beginning, I recall. But he's really grown on me and I now count on DK/JL to keep me in touch with all the 'little news' of the day.
Thanks to all the fine writers here, but special thanks to Jed - and to Dear Leader for finding and hiring him, of course.
From Commonmass:
Rescue Rangers: these folks read EVERY diary EVERY day. It's a huge job that brings us Community Spotlight every day. The Rangers are my heroes!
Jotter: he puts the stats together every day. Political polls are great to follow, but if you want to know who did what on Daily Kos, look to high impact posts and Jotter.
Top Comments: Yeah, I know, I'm praising a team I'm on, but TC does for comments what the Rangers do for diaries. It's fun, and it's work, and it's up every day at 10pm Eastern Time.
Cheers and Jeers and Bill in Portland Maine: Bill's a national treasure, as far as I am concerned. He's also a personal friend, and I love him, and Michael, and Molly and Fantome. Every morning, a bunch of us have virtual coffee with Bill and one another and snark back and forth, or share details about our lives one would nearly never share in a venue like that. It's fun, and it is a great switch from the very wonderful and serious diaries you encounter later in the day on Daily Kos. Cheers and Jeers is responsible for tons of new friends I have met in person, four New England meet-ups a year (the last one in February had thirty Kossacks at lunch), and I even met a good friend an former boyfriend in C&J!
Animal Nuz: If you haven't seen it on Saturday, you're missing something wonderful by activist, industrial designer and New Yorker cartoonist and Kossack ericlewis0. Come for the cartoon, stay for the comments.
These are just a few things off the top of my head about what I appreciate at Daily Kos. Thanks for the diary, we need to think about what we appreciate and pass that on to our online community once in a while. Daily Kos is like my neighborhood. It's nice to praise your neighbors on occasion.
3:23 PM PT: Philimus rightly adds;
How about a shout-out to Something The Dog Said 2? (1+ / 0-)
His diaries (and comments) are consistently thoughtful and well-written, too. At least IMHO
