This is just a heads up for the latest blog post from Adam (Power of Nightmares) Curtis who hits it out of the park once again, this time on the subject Who Would God vote for? which follows the parallel development of religious activism in the US and Iran from the late Seventies onwards:
In the early 1970s in Washington a small group of young conservative activists came together to try and change American politics. They called themselves the New Right and they were convinced that unless they did something drastic, the liberals and the left-wingers in America were going to take over the country.
Some terrific archive footage on display - including President Carter's disastrous "Tear gas" photo-call on the White House lawn with the Shah of Iran and Reagan milking the evangelical vote for all it's worth, not to mention Jerry Falwell in his prime (and his darkest hour!). And wait until you see the toys that the Iranian Mullahs dish out to the kids!
