Had our Founding Fathers been able to see into the future, with assault rifles, extended-clip, semi-automatic handguns, and our "Stand Your Ground" laws .. ..
. . I'm fairly certain they would have penned the 2nd Amendment quite differently, with far more leeway to impose restrictions on future generations. Just as they left open the possibility for future SCOTUS rulings to greatly inhibit firearms during air travel, even though it could be argued that armed passengers might very well have protected both themselves, and national security by carrying concealed weapons.
And yet I have heard not one word from these conservative lunatics that cry about losing their 2nd Amendment rights, when armed passengers could possibly have prevented one or more of the hijackings on 9/11.
Why are they not DEMANDING, using the personal defense argument, and the "Stand Your Ground" laws, that they be allowed to carry their concealed, extended-clip, semi-automatic handguns on EVERY flight they board ?
I'm fairly certain the NRA morons would applaud that argument.
But somehow, despite their firm belief that the Constitution's 2nd Amendment protects their right to bear arms, they, and their fright-wing conservative representatives, have fully and completely acquiesced to federal government law which PROHIBITS firearm possession onboard an aircraft.
Why do they find it acceptable that the federal government denies their 2nd Amendment rights in certain circumstances, but not others ?
Seems rather obvious that the 2nd Amendment doesn't guarantee their right to bear arms at all like they claim it does.
