I just got an email from Debbie Wasserman Schultz. It was a standard fund-raising pitch from the DCCC. The subject line of the email read: Don't get me started. The irony is that Rep. Schultz is a bit of a don't-get-me-started topic for me.
I doubt that anyone will read it, but I actually replied to this email. Here's what I wrote:
Dear Debbie Wasserman Schultz,
I’d be a lot more inclined to give to the DCCC if you didn’t have a history of supporting Republicans for re-election in districts neighboring your own.
I forget whether it was in '06 or '08, but I'm referring to
her support for Ileana Ros-Lehtinen. We had a good candidate running in that district, but it was more important to her to show friendship to a fellow representative from the Florida delegation. I think that kind of 'collegiality' is wholly inappropriate for any Democrat holding national office, above all from someone leading the election campaign.
It's one of many reasons that I very rarely give to the DCCC (nor any of the national Democratic organizations), but instead target my giving to individual races that are advancing the kinds of values I believe in and that are sorely lacking even among Democrats in Congress.
Tell me what you think.
