First of all, my deepest condolences to all those who lost their homes or loved ones in last night's storms.
We lucked out.
The really bad weather went north last night. It hit the central part of Oklahoma, late enough [in the wee hours of the morning] that the cold air really helped diminish the power of these storms, turning them into a squall line with small hail and heavy rain.
That was just dumb luck. Had those storms gotten here earlier in the evening, when the air was still heavy and warm, it would have been a much more dramatic night for residents in central Oklahoma.
I, and probably a lot of other people, --we are punch drunk. I haven't really slept in a couple days. Not for very long and certainly not deeply because I was keeping one ear to the television and the other to the howling winds outside.
Next week's weather looks to be pleasant.
Later I will remove any perishables from our storm shelter, as well as a few keepsakes that we periodically put down there, when catastrophic weather threatens.
Special thanks to the Weather Dude for his pages providing all the maps and discussions. It was both educational and comforting. And thank you to all the supportive people out there who showed their concern and compassion in the various threads.
