The 2012 Democratic National Convention is slated to be held in Charlotte, North Carolina this September.
Given tonight's passage of Amendment 1, I think the DNC needs to rethink its choice.
If the Democrats wish to hold itself out as the party of equality and equal protection under the law, the party that opposes discrimination of any kind, the party that truly fights for ALL families - straight, gay, married, unmarried - if they really want to be the party of progress, then they need to hold the Democratic National Convention in a state that reflects these values.
I, for one, will be calling the DNC tomorrow asking them to rethink the location of the convention in September. North Carolina should not reap economic benefits while shunning and excluding certain of its citizens from equality and human decency.
