An article on ProPublica indicates that a charge on MaryAnn Nellis' CapitalOne card by the "Friends of Scott Walker" was made without her knowledge. According to the article, which can be found here, Ms. Nellis, who doesn't even live in Wisconsin, disputes the charge:
"Over my dead body," said Nellis, a potter and retired teacher in upstate New York who describes herself as "adamantly angry and upset" at Republicans such as Walker. Nellis disputed the charge and she was issued a new card.
When Ms. Nellis called CapitalOne about the charge, she was told:
"... that they watch for fraudulent merchants who will put through a bunch of charges that are not legitimate," Nellis said. "I said, 'The fraudulent merchant here was Friends of Scott Walker, right?' And she said, 'Yes.' They had a little flag on any Scott Walker activity."
ProPublica was able to verify Ms. Nellis' experience. They charged a donation to the Friends of Scott Walker PAC on a CapitalOne credit card, and were emailed a "fraud protection alert", when ProPublica contacted CapitalOne they were then told:
"...our fraud department had some potential fraud concerns on the account."
Watch those credit card statements!
